چکیده

Kauffman net is a dynamical system of logical variables receiving two random inputs and each randomly assigned a boolean function. We show that the attractor and transient lengths exhibit scaleless behavior with power-law distributions over up to ten orders of magnitude. Our results provide evidence for the existence of the ”edge of chaos” as a distinct phase between the ordered and chaotic regimes analogous to a critical point in statistical mechanics. The power-law distributions are robust to the changes in the composition of the transition rules and network dynamics. 87.10.+e, 05.50+9, 05.40j Typeset using REVTEX

We calculate time correlation functions in the Bak-Sneppen model (Phys. Rev. Lett. 71 4083 (1993)), a model showing self-organised criticality. For a random neighbour version of the model, analytical results are presented, while on a one dimensional lattice we give numerical results. The power spectrum of these correlation functions shows 1/f-behaviour in both cases.

The spin stiffness ρ s of the repulsive Hubbard model that occurs in the hy-drodynamic theory of antiferromagnetic spin waves is shown to be the same as the thermodynamically defined stiffness involved in twisting the order parameter. New expressions for ρ s are derived, which enable easier interpretation , and connections with superconducting weight and gauge invariance are discussed.
